Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

The Weapons of our Warfare...

We were in Arkansas for the "changing of the guards". Gathered together at the Millers computer, along with Glenn Beck and his sidekicks, we watched with growing disappointment as the election numbers came in. By 11:00 PM we knew. It was over. Our "doom had come upon us". I looked around the room at the precious souls gathered there. My sister, with whom I had so many common experiences; my parents, our godly forbears; and then my children and their cousins, the generation upon whom the consequences of this landmark decision will undoubtedly fall.

As I looked into the faces of these 7 teens, I saw alternatively, frustration, disbelief, and passionate determination - to enact change, a different kind of change than was on the minds of the majority on Nov. 4th. Into the wee hours of the morning, I watched as these young people, resolute in their desire to carry forth the standard of righteousness, discussed the future.

In their youthful enthusiasm, they made impulsive declarations. In their frustration, the discussed the issues and the arguments they would use in persuading those who "fell for the lies". Typical responses, yes, but as children of the King, like Daniel and his comrades, winning the battle at hand required so much more.

The patriarch, Grandaddy Frodge, seized the moment. Gathering us together, he drew from his years of experience and godly wisdom. He exhorted us from the Scripture to rise to the challenge, not in the flesh, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Eph 6:12), but as the children of an heavenly kingdom. He exhorted the young men to take their place in society and carry the standard high, yet with a spirit of humility. He exhorted all to use their God-given abilities to write, make phone calls, and most of all to pray. I only wish that our entire extended family could have united together at that crucial moment, as we have during so many other times of crisis.

As we enter a new era, for it surely will be an era which has never before been seen by this America, let us remember which weapons are truly effective. Let us not resort to petty arguments, drawn from our limited reasoning ability, or angry barbs, directed at those who need Christ most. Let us instead determine to use the only weapon entrusted to us by the King of Righteousness, the Word of God. We cannot fight with a dull, rusty sword. We must read and memorize the Word. We may then "yield our members" (our brains, tongues, hands) to the work of righteousness, and the sweet Holy Spirit of God will faithfully "bring all things to our remembrance."

Praise the Lord that He has indeed left us with a "very small remnant" and we are not as those which have no hope!

Thank you for such good words of encouragement, Beth. That night was a difficult one to process...the possibility that our quite pleasant lives might very well be changing, and not for the better. Thankfully, we can rest in the Lord and wait patiently in Him. That is our one true Hope.

Love,
Katie

That was so well written and your views are shared and appreciated. We wish we could have been there with you as well. Thanks for the encouraging words. You are right, we must PRAY for the right kind of change -- starting in our own hearts.

Love,

Sarah directed me to your blog; it looks like a lot of fun. In fact, it's quite tempting to start a Lipsy blog up for ourselves. =) My family was so blessed to meet you, and we really look forward to getting to know you more in the future!
In Christ,

Thanks, ya'll.

Thanks for stopping in, Esther! We also were blessed to meet your sweet family. We are so impressed with your father's heart for God and knowledge of the scriptures. Praise the Lord for a faithful pastor.
