Well...we might as well

Our "Picassa Album" that we were charitably granted by the ubiquitous Google has apparantly been filled! Well, whadya' know? I assume this is why other people have suddenly mysteriously created new blogs. The conspiracy theory inner self, of course, wonders at the "coincidence" of this happening to so many in our little blog circle within such a short period of time. Could it have anything to do with that friendly little message we received when we last attempted an upload? Let's see... it was something about purchasing more album space.

Anyway, since we apparently have to start a new blog and we will very soon be in our new home in the Ozarks, why not just make a fresh start?

Hmmm...What to name this new blog? The Sunny South Eh? hardly seems appropriate unless there is a MAJOR emphasis on EH (as in are you insane?) We appeal to our readers. We welcome suggestions from one and all!

(no blog titles containing hubcaps or Beatrix Potter will be considered)

Let the brainstorming begin :)

The Wisdom that is from Above

Please recognize that we are passionate in our belief that the War Between the States was extremely instrumental in plunging our country into the downward spiral in which we find ourselves today. Unfortunately, “The winner writes the history books”. Those in power during this war (certainly not every patriotic Union soldier, many of whom were certainly God-fearing men) promoted federal over-reaching, big government, the neutralizing of state sovereignty, and what's more, the government's usurping of sovereignty from the Sovereign to Whom all sovereignty belongs. It would take a post akin to a doctoral dissertation in order to adequately express our reasons for this belief. Suffice it to say that we have prayerfully researched long and hard before arriving at this conclusion and the view that the current condition of our country is a direct result of the philosophical ideology of those in power during this war.

Do we think "The South Will Rise Again?" Are we promoting some kind of vigilante-style violence in order to vindicate those brave ancestors who gave all? Absolutely not! We do, however, believe that it is our responsibility as Christians to be very sure that our philosophy and way of life is aligned with the Word of God and to recognize that the Federal government is not sovereign (above all - the supreme and highest power), but Father God is. We also hold very dearly the memory of those who gave all for this cause - a cause that we believe was philosophical and spiritual at its core. Please read these excellent posts here, here, and here for more info (using many primary-source quotes) to help understand why we believe this war was not primarily about slavery.

A belief system is just that - a belief - based on prayer, scriptural application, personal impressions, research, and human understanding. To believe in something strongly is to have a very deep-rooted understanding. Any understanding is necessarily limited by the Scriptural principle that our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked.

In conveying any deeply held conviction, we must be ever mindful of our human condition and in all humility remember the verses in James chapter 3:17-18.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Having said this, it is our family's upmost desire to ensure that our conversation (our speech and manner of life) is consistently based upon the Word of God. Above all emotion, sentimentality, or pride in a cause we must recognize that God's Word reigns supreme. Sola Scriptura! If we desire to share any wisdom that we believe God in His grace has given us, we must be careful that it meets the James 3:17 test.

• Easy to be intreated
• Full of mercy and good fruits
• Without partiality
• Without hypocricy

In regards to sweet Gracie's last post (her heart is very sincere), we want to follow the admonition of the Lord and submit to the King of Kings in all matters, particularly those having to do with the Household of Faith. Hence this post.

Having evaluated her tongue in cheek comment following her "rant" (as she described it), we realized that her statement (which has since been removed) seemed arrogant and condescending to those precious brethren who do not see this war in the same light as we do. We recognize that the word deluded, which she used was a strong one and used very freely - in jest, yes - yet a deeper implication could certainly be evident. For that we humbly apologize. God's Word does not spell out "The South was Right", yet is clearly states:

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:(Pro 6:16)

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,(Pro 6:17)

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,(Pro 6:18)

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.(Pro 6:19)

We humbly ask your forgiveness if any of our comments came across as haughty or condescending.

Just as we have prayerfully researched this issue, so have other godly families. While we do not shy away from our strongly held beliefs, we respect the fact that others have drawn very different, in fact opposite conclusions based on the facts that they have uncovered. We recognize that the interpretation of historical events is not a core doctrinal belief. To recognize God's sovereignty in every area of our lives, and our responsibility to practice unconditional surrender to His sovereignty is a basic core doctrinal belief and godly families all over America are certainly living out this conviction without believing that the "South was Right" :)

A Blip in the Blog...

...is here!

We started our blog with three intentions:

One: To have fun keeping all of our friends and family up to date with what we have been up to.

Two: To journal our lives for ourselves, and possibly for posterity as well.

Three: To allow the Lord to use the blog for HIs honor and Glory in whatever way He chooses.

Unfortunately, the busier we are, the more we have to blog. The more we have to blog, the less time we have to do so!!! As a result, a decision has been made.

Starting now, we will slowly go back and blog events and happenings that we have wanted to blog and haven't, because we felt kind of stupid posting something when we had the chance, which just happened to be six months after the event occurred! So, we plan to blog them in chronological order (so should we blog the 4th of July in January, it will be among July's posts), and then post the link here on the blog, announcing it's existence and letting anyone who wishes to see it, see it! :)

So for the first Blip in the Blog we have........... CHRISTMAS 2009!!!

Hopefully, the Blog will stop messing up and we will be allowed to post one post as one post. Unfortunately, this has not happened yet so the Christamas post is in 3 postings, hence 3 links. They are in order, from top to bottom.
