Howdy, Folks!
Well, our family had a great Independence Day celebration yesterday! A wonderful time of fun and games, fellowship, eating, fireworks, rain – PLENTY of that!!! - and remembering those who have gone before.
We all (“all” meaning my family and Mama’s sisters’ families – the Stricklens and the Millers) gathered at my grandparent’s home about ½ a mile down the road at around 2:00. That’s when the fun began! We ate, then had some games, and then did some recording for our first Country Cousins CD! That one took a while.
After that interesting experience of nine different solos on the same track at the same time (not the conventional recording procedure, I know) came the fireworks! My grandfather, one of my uncles, my brother Pete, and my male cousins handled that job very nicely. No mortars overturning, firing into an expectant crowd, chasing of children and dogs, and then finally exploding under a rental car this year!!! (Yep – that was a very memorable 4th of July experience of two years ago. It was my dog that was chased, by the way.)
So, another year to thank the Lord for our country, and another safe celebration of our heritage! How generous the Lord is to preserve this great nation year after year. How long will His tender mercies continue to shine down upon us? We, His children, must begin to pray even harder for another great revival among our families, churches, and then among the lost in our communities!
I think my sister has some pictures of our celebration yesterday to post, so I’ll let her do her artistic stuff.
Signing out,
~Kitty~
