Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

20 years ago today.......

...The songs played, the excitement mounted, the family and friends filed into the church...hankies were made ready, and in a back room, young ladies made themselves ready...

...A mischievous younger brother and his friends found "the car" and affectionately and cruelly toilet-papered it, writing the expected words on the back window...

...A young man nervously positioned himself before the preacher, with his brothers and a friend beside him, his heart pounding, and his eyes bright with anticipation

...All grew quiet as one after another, young women and their escorts filed into the room....

...There was a note from the pianist, a rustling from the seated guests as they rose and craned their necks at the door...

...four bridesmaids walked down the isle, and then...

...Beth Frodge, began her slow decent toward her place before her grandfather, her arm resting lovingly on her father's arm. Her eyes were bright, and she looked only on Papa as he gazed back at her, patiently awaiting the moment she would be at his side to say their vows. Grandaddy gave his daughter's hand into her groom's, with loving protectiveness...

...A prayer from Grandpa Harris, music, a small sermon, and words of wisdom and admonishment...

...A silence, and then "Do you, Edward Discher, take this woman to be thy lawfully wedded wife, to love and to cherish..." the words rang out loud and clear as Papa accepted the responsibility and privileges of marriage. "I do."

..."Do you, Anna Elisabeth Frodge take this man to be thy lawfully wedded husband, to love and to obey..." Aunt Molly wiped tears as Mama waited for her appointed moment. "I do."

...The piano played, the guests stood, as the new couple, now one in Christ, walked happily back down the isle as man and wife for the first time!

Yes, today marks 20 years of happy marriage for our parents, Edward and Beth Discher. Through the Grace of God, diligent obedience to His Word, encouragement from family and friends, and a true love in Him, Mama and Daddy celebrate 20 years together.

We, their children, just want to commemorate this special occasion, and thank them for the sacrifices they have made through the years for the good of the family, the love they have lavished upon us, and the example they have been to us.

WE LOVE YOU, AND WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

Your loving children,

Kitty, Sarah, Grace, Peter, Markie, Rose, (and I'm sure that, could she understand, Emma would like her name on the list, so...) EmmaJane.

Oh! Our dear precious children, we are touched by your beautiful words and your trip down memory lane!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal (compliments of the children) and each other's company - joined of course by Emma later in the evening - that romantic rascal :) "The Father" has a pretty little ring for me that he has chosen and we will pick up on Saturday to further commemorate this landmark in our lives. May God bless our children with as happy a marriage as we have enjoyed!
