PS early - The title was for you, Ariana. :)
Well, here we are again. The Discher Family out in cyberspace… As I sit here typing, I hear the thunder outside, the rain dripping off the porch roof in torrents, and imagine how much fun I could have out in the pool right now in the dark and rain.
I just switched the music from a nutsy but pretty CD by a Spanish violinist (which has been on half the day) to a bluegrass CD. Grace was beside me as I did this, and is currently staggering about my brother’s room, gasping in a pitiful, raspy voice “We are going to die!!! We are going to die…..” She could, to some poor victim who does not know her, be quite convincing as someone who has lost her mind….Fortunately, I know her well enough to know that she has not lost it – yet – but is only well on her way.
We have had a rather busy, and fellowship filled weekend. On Friday afternoon, we were to go pick blueberries with our dear friends, the Pollocks, only to have it pour down rain as they reached our area. So, they stayed for supper, after which we picked as many as we could in the dark.
The time that followed our return to our house could, by some, be labeled “insane, ludicrous, wacky, laughable, and outlandish.” With the exception of our two fathers, who immediately declared themselves two ants, and that they had already found each other, we all began a game during which our nice, peaceful home was turned into a howling barn. We were all given cards with an animal on it, and at the appointed moment, we all had to close our eyes and holler out our animal sound as loud as we could until we found our partner. HoHum. I shall not attempt to describe the unbelievable racket, confusion, or insult to the animal kingdom that followed. Let us say only that I am certainly glad no one else stopped by for an unexpected visit, and that at that moment, no one came to our door to inform us that we had one a sweepstakes and a million dollars. We most assuredly would never have received it.
Just as a side note, we did play normal games that night as well. Our entire night was not a perfect picture of insanity.
On Saturday, we celebrated my cousin Callie’s 16th birthday and her sister, also our cousin (Abby), was celebrating her 11th birthday. What a fun day that was!!! Volleyball, music, fellowship, swimming, presents, cake, and food!!! That was a rather late and tiring evening, and when all was said and done, most of us had been at their house for 12 hrs. straight! I hope they had a wonderful time as well!!
On Sunday, our home church dispensed with our regular service to attend another home church. It was a wonderful service, and it was perfectly wonderful to fellowship with them.
This week is – as it is planned now – a relatively quiet week, with only one visitation with another family. But, with us, you never know……(bwahahaha)
So, this is a sleep deprived, hyperactive, type-oholic Kitty saying goodbye for now. Perhaps – PERHAPS – our next entry shall have some hint of sanity about it, but if it does not, all of you who are worried for us and our mental safety, may rest assured that we have fun.
