Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

The Great Celebration - - Independence Day, July 4th!!!!

Well, there we were....the Dischers and Tanners left all alone in Alturas, while the rest of "us" went trotting all around the country (ok, ok - the east coast). So. What were we to do?

Never fear!!!! We are here!! We can always find some fun! (I tried to think of a rhyme and it didn't work....ya'll can all sigh with relief.)

We had planned to go to a local TEA Party in Lakeland, but found out on Friday that it had been cancelled.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, what we ended up doing was meeting at the Stricklen's empty house (since THEY have a pool! Smart, eh?) and we called the Whickers (Gmama's sister and her family) to let them know where we'd be if they wanted to join us. They did, and we all crashed the Stricklen's house' party - - which had been been pretty dead till then. :) This turned out to be such a great time with our wonderful relatives!!!!!

The Fated TEA Party Preparations:

______________

We all sewed dresses for the TEA Party that wasn't.

They were 40's and 50's themed AKA "Vintage"

Unfortunately, our poor plans were deflated when the Party was cancelled.

But, we all ended up with nice dresses!
Here they are - a week later. Hey! We're as patriotic on July 12th as we are on July 4th!

The Celebration Preparations:

______________

Grace making her wonderful rolls!!!

Markie shelling eggs.
(They were boiled, by the way.)
:-P

Rosie cutting strawberries for the desert.

Sarah made ice cream.

Flour.....drifting, sifting down....peaceful....quiet....Flour....

"She...worketh willingly with her hands."

Papa and Peter smoked the chickens - wonderful birds from the Waldman Family Farm.

Let The Celebration Begin:
______________

Ahhhh! What is a celebration without food???
(especially corn on the cob, which Grandma literally hunted down for us!)

Mumsie and Lil' Paul

A celebration also needs games...and with Aunt Sue, The Game Queen, around, you are sure to have those!!!

As I have been called - The Laughing Machine
Mandy

Daddy and Pete reading the news.

Pete and Sarah schemed around and scared Amanda with...something....I can't recall just what. Amanda - maybe you could help us out?
:o)

Sweet little girls

And the Big Folks
Sarah tried - without much success - to get some good photos of me.
Amanda wasn't helping.
:-P
And again...wasn't helping.

The little girls went swimming.

Now that is a cool picture, dude!

Ooooooh yeeeaaaaahh!!!!!
Settlers of Catan!!!!

Mama and Mrs. Tanner were on a team. They kept rolling 7 - - EVERY roll! Even when they had other folks roll for them so that they WOULDN'T roll 7, it was 7. So, they got mad. Here they are, preparing to use their little houses as guns. Artillary. They were planning on shooting the Robber.

Here they are shooting the rest of us dead too...or maybe not. They tried.

Aunt Sue and G'ma were partners

The game table

Grace won, by the way.
(She wanted to be sure I included that detail....)

The younger girls' game

Emma and Julia. Best Friends.

Purty Bakers.

LATER... with "The Lakeland Gang"...
Fireworks and Fellowship:
______________

Solving the world's problems.
The leaders of the families - they have a heavy responsibility these days...!

(Sarah snapped this picture before she was thrown out of the Top Secret Meeting and told that the Press wasn't allowed, so get lost!)

They had a great fireworks display!
:)

Emma loved it. So did Mama.
:)

So did Liv and I

Eerie figures in the smoke....

Spectacular lights in the sky...

Spectators.

*sizzle!*

Sariana

Gabriel, Pete, and Sam after (wouldn't you know???) volleyball!

Mama and Mrs. Pollock talking

Emma and James. :)

Josh, of course

Sarah and Rachel.

"OOooooooooh!"
"Ahhhhhhhh!"
"Woooooowwww!"
"Awwwwsome!"
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! Bad Fireworks! Bad Fireworks!(Emma)
"Got some more??"
"YEEEEHAAAWWW!"
"Cooool!"
"*Whistle*"
Got the point? It was a great day all around.

Over 'n Out.:)

Hmmm . . . the challenge of thinking up a rhyme!

"Never fear!!!! We are here!! We can always find some fun!
We'll muddle through without a tear,
With hotdogs on a bun!"

Or . . .

"Never fear!!!! We are here!! We can always find some fun!
While Stricklens and Frodges hear
Speakers til they're done!"

Or . . .

"Never fear!!!! We are here!! We can always find some fun!
We celebrate our country dear
Without firing a gun!" (Or maybe with!)

Well, it was a challenge!

I love, love the "Andrews Sisters"! Just feels like you should break out with "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" or "Chattanooga Choo-choo" or something!

We missed y'all terribly and are so glad you had a good time. Glad to be home.

Love,
Grandmother,
Who watched the fantastic Boston fireworks on TV from a couple blocks away!

The dresses are so beautiful. I am always amazed at what you girls can do. I am personally "challenged" in the sewing department.(Just ask Mr. Stevens!) In fact my motto is...."If I can glue it, I can do it"!! Ya'll did a great job!

Cute post, Kitty.

Why was the tea party cancelled. How disappointing after sewing all those dresses!

And I'm feeling disappointed that your mom hasn't had her baby. I thought she would have had it this weekend. I'm not sure where I got that idea but it was there nonetheless. So I kept checking your blog waiting to see the big news. But not yet, huh? I guess we know it will be shortly.

Looks like you all had a great 4th of July Celebration! Glad you were able to use the house and pool. We missed everyone, of course! But we had a great 4th of July ourselves sitting on the Charles River and listening to the Boston Pops :)
The dresses are beautiful!! I know I saw them Sunday. In fact, I personally witnessed the very photo shoot used for this blog post!
They do remind me of the Andrews sisters also.
Great post, Kitty! You are always so enjoyable to read.
Love,
Aunt Molly
