Life has been busily swirling around the Discher home. Here are snippets of the past few weeks in pictures.
Fire Chasing!!!
We discovered the huge brush fire a mile or so from Amanda's house
(And help prepare for if the wind changed)
They had a couple helicopters dumping water from a nearby lake (Really neat!!!)
....Making sure it falls where is needs to...
Emma loves her big cousin!! (And vice versa!)
The anual measure-up...Dum de de dum!
"Happy winds-day Piglet!!"
Apparently one of our older trees did not like the wind.. :/
Visiting with Matthew and Daniel
We were blessed to spend a few days with Matthew and Daniel when they were down for the canoe trip
Talking... (obviously)
I think the verdict was that Pete is taller for this month

Good conversation
The Doolins stopped by to se the celebrities
(Sam is getting up there in height too!)
Precious Memories

Fishing at Granddaddy's pond with Granddaddy has always been special o us Grandchildren!!
(really!!)

STRAWBERRY PICKING

Every year, we are to be able to pick free strawberries from a field owned by friends of the Graves.
We are always so excited when the call comes "Ok! The fields are ready to be picked. We have tomorrow and the next day...Come and get em'!!!"
So we all load uo and go apickin'.
Then there is always the processing...
What could be more fun than hulling berries while enjoying an old movie?
BLESSED WITH LOQUATS

Lots and lots of loquat jam!
Every year, we are to be able to pick free strawberries from a field owned by friends of the Graves.
And of course, participate in the annual "strawberry wars." :)
What a blessing to be able to glean after the professional pickers have come through!

BLESSED WITH LOQUATS
Much to Peter's embarrasment, we discovered a loaded loquat tree down the road, and asked to "glean" from it. The owners were of course glad to oblige us
(They did not even know what the tree was)
Pitting loquats
(Of course, we were again accompanied by an old movie) :)
And snacks
Fun fun
MMMMmmmmm
FUN WITH FAMILY
FUN WITH FAMILY
It looks like something is going on...Hmmm...Lets get a closer look
What could be so funny??

We always enjoy a hearty laugh when the "Uncle Chris comedy routine" comes to town. :)

Wonderful update, y'all! We have had some special times together, haven't we?
Granddaddy is always refreshed when he goes fishing with the grandchildren. The pond is sure down right now -- for the same reason the wildfire was raging! NO RAIN! Please, Lord, send showers of blessing! Or torrents of blessing!
I always love the results of your "gleaning"! The loquat (I call them Florida plums) jam -- yummy!
Love,
Grandmother,
who better get busy
and update her blog!
(Oh, and thanks for
changing your "comment"
page to make it easier!)
Those matching dresses (made by an industrious sister, I'm sure) are darling!
So, when is the "Lawn Party" blog post coming? Those of us who weren't invited would love to "peek over the stone wall of the mansion" and see the splendor of an elegant, Southern lawn party!
Love,
Aunt Katie
Hey,
Where was that loquat tree at? Was it across from Leland Young's barn? Mama and I were trying to figure it out, and that was ll we could come up with.
RG
Yes, it was across from his barn. :) Good memory! There are a few more in the neighborhood as well. We want to go raid them as well. ;)
~Sarah~
I guess we missed the big fire adventure and the Miller boys Celebrity visit!
Those times at the pond with Granddaddy are such special memories.
The dresses Sarah made for Resurrection Sunday look so sweet. I love the picture that is kind of "antiqued" ? It is in color though -- entitled "fresh little girls". So sweet :)
Those strawberries have been GREAT! We thank the Lord for them.
I am so glad I have finally gotten my family on the tropical fruit bandwagon (I am referring to the acceptance of eating loquats and such!) Now I am not the only weirdo!
Now I just have to get you eating Sapodilla, Jaboticaba and maybe some Indian Jujube! Hee! Hee! You can always depend on your eccentric (only in this one area of my life) aunt, can't you!
Your loquat jam looks great - can I have some? I don't know why we didn't make some more this year - our tree had plenty.
Ok, Uncle Chris is going to KILL you for that picture of him -- be looking on our blog for a revenge picture of some sort in the near future!
What a beautiful cardinal - Abby will be jealous of whoever is holding him.
The "sewing art" is repulsive, please refrain from such self mutilation acts in the future, Dischers!
Lunch was fun - thanks for being assertive, girls!!
Loved the poem of 3 sisters. Reminds me of someone(s) :) sigh
Love,
Aunt Molly
Is Pete the French man looking for the "Tour De France"? These French people come up with some very unique ways to travel. We should know!
Love the pic of Matthew and Emma. So Precious. Yes, Matthew, I said precious.
Also, the pictures of grandpa and the grandchildren are wonderful.
Whoever made those dresses for the girls did and absolute fantastic job. I agree with Aunt Molly, I love the "old fashioned" looking one, too.
And last but not least, the pic of the fire at the end was great.
Love y'all,
Mrs. P (Tina)
