Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

Preps for the Party of the Year!!! :) :) :)

Last Monday, Mama and us kids realized that, with all that had been going on, Daddy's 50th Birthday had snuck up on us! We discovered that we had precisely 6 days to get a party up and going--one that Daddy was not likely to forget! (it was 70's themed. Daddy was really jivin' in the 70's--long hair, shades, groovy threads and all :-D) So, we got on gmail and the phone and started working...

Daddy is a wonderful artist.
Here is one of the several horses he has drawn. :)
Another of Ed Discher's artistic works
He looks like he's planning something...a 50th birthday party, perhaps? :)
Emma on her throne...
Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures during the week of secret e-mailing, blog creating, planning, and working...
until Saturday--the day before the big event! So, that is where we will start... :)
Tablecloths in the making...ugly, aren't they?? :)
The Babysitter
The Babysat. :)
Making the cakes.
(yes, cakes..there were 2 cakes and a pie. :D)
Making brightly-colored decorations
:) "Blinded yet?" :)
Flower Power
Aunt Ashley was having a lot of fun :):):)
The finished pie--and was it ever good! :)
"I wonder if anyone would notice if it went missing??"
Banner #1
The Frosting Makers
Frosting has been made!
They look like little men with peaked hats. :)
Funky colors
"Eating frosting? Who? ME??"
2 Cuties
"Does this look 70's enough to you???"
Starting on the great experiment
No comment...
Great expectations! :)
Looks like we have another "artist" in the family
One groovy cake! :) Great job, Liz! :)

Oh, my! We had so much fun! And the best part to me was watching Eddie suddenly realize what was going on and try to bolt -- to no avail! Making the flowers and the cake was a "blast" too! And shopping for the "groovy" fabrics, etc.

How great it is to have a family that loves to create! It just gives my life as a granny so much spark! Great job, Dischers -- your Papa will never forget that day!

All I can say is "WOW!" It looks like you had a blast. I didn't see any bellbottoms, though -smile-!

Yours is one of the blogs I enjoy reading so I have passed on the Brillante Award to you. Please visit my blog to read more about it. (Click my name)

Thanks for ALL your help, "Granny"! It was SO funny to see Eddie try to bolt...

Erica! How exciting to recieve the Brilliante Award. Thank you! I have tried to post a comment on your beautiful blog, but it won't work. I must be doing something wrong. I really like your homemaker's cabinet.
