Age 18
Presuppositions are important in the evolution/creation debate. Christians come to the table with presuppositions stemming from the Bible, and evolutionists come with presuppositions developing from their religion-evolution. Both see the same facts, yet come to totally different conclusions. What is the difference? Creationists see that the data agrees with an eyewitness story. The evolutionists first have to create a story, then try and fit the facts into it. Here are a few examples of how scientific evidence fits perfectly into God's account.
Studies show that the sun shrinks 5 feet an hour. That would mean that it shrinks 1% every thousand years. For Creationists, that is fine. The sun has shrunk about 6%. However, those who believe in millions of years have a problem. 20 million years ago, the surface of the sun would have been touching the earth. Life would have been impossible on earth even a million years ago.
The magnetic field is another great example of how science echoes the Bible. Dr Thomas Barnes determined that that earth's magnetic field is decaying at a rate of 5% each century. Were the earth even 20,000 years old, the heat produced by the electric current of the earth's magnetic field would have liquefied the earth. We need not ask whether people were able to live in these conditions.
What better evidence is there than living evidence? The Methuselah Tree, dating back 4,767 years is the oldest living tree. Did man live for millions of years on a treeless earth?
Scientists will never be able to prove the earth's age. Age cannot be accurately measured, only calculated. Current calculations point not towards millions, but 6-7 thousand years. Not only do Christians have an eyewitness account in God's Holy Word, but they also have scientific calculations that correspond with it.
