Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

North Carolina Trip

Yep. Another one. :)
Daddy and Peter had planned on going to a Father-Son retreat in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Grandmama and Granddaddy and Grandma Harris were going to visit relatives as well, and they graciously allowed Gracie and I to tag along. :)
So...we all piled in the RV and headed to NC!!
Grandmama and Grandma enjoying lunch on the road.
On the way, we got a great deal on Altoids!!! 4 tins for 12 cents. Wow.
(Just had to brag) ;)
We stopped at an old rice plantation. I love the old South!
Daddy (AKA Ishmael) and Gracie walking through the slave quarters
There were so many huge oak trees there!!
These branches belong to the trunk in the distance. Absolutely beautiful!
My wonderful Daddy and Brother
We had a lovely lunch under the trees.
Sisters...
Back in the RV!!
Our constant companion. Great messages!!
Pete has been in the RV too long!
Gracie diligently working on her snood
I actually read a whole book on the trip! Wow. I never read in the car.
Pete and Daddy as we dropped them off at the retreat. They look happy.
(What's really going through their minds is, we're stranded!!!)
And...off we went to visit Grandma Harris' cousin, whom she had not seen in over 50 years!
Grandma and her cousin--Leora
Grandmama enjoyed meeting her.
As did we. We loved hearing the stories Grandma and Leora shared!
And...off we went to visit Grandma's Brother --Uncle Charles
I love this picture! So sweet.
Grandmama and Aunt Polly
The next day we went to see Grandmama's cousin, Luke
We met him at a resturant and had a nice lunch with him.
Grandmama and Granddaddy had not seen him in 40 years.
The next day we attended Hope Baptist Church and had a lovely meal and fellowship afterwards.
What could this be??
A picture war?
Ah yes! Peter, Ben Whiddon and this fellow were involved in a violent skirmish.
Run!
With the help of my camera, a treaty was made and peace restored.
Pete and the Whiddon boys (minus Tim)

And...the Beverly Hillbillies are on their way home!
With Grandmama and Great Grandmama singing those old time melodies
Y'all come back now, ya' hear?

We sure enjoyed seeing and reading about the trip! It looks like Grandma Harris really enjoyed seeing her cousin and brother, and I'm sure every one else enjoyed meeting them as well. Where are the pictures of the rain-soaked tent and sleeping bags floating away? I thought that was the highlight of the trip!

Love,
Aunt Katie

That really was a great trip! I was blessed to see my relatives after so long, and meet "Cousin" Leora. It was special to hear them talk about their childhood and how much has changed. Leora was so blessed to hear of our large family and how we are close to one another. It must have brought back old memories for her!

Thanks for going along, Sarah and Gracie! You really made the trip special for us! I mean, where else can you have your own live music driving down the road??

Love,
Grandmother

Aunt Katie-- Yes, it was a wonderful, memory-building trip. The pictures of Daddy and Peter's adventure (though not quite as dramatic as you painted it) ;) will be up as soon as we find the camera they were taken on, and Peter puts them up. :)

Erica-- Hey!! Well....they incident did not really happen like that. very wet, but not floating away etc... ;)

Grandmama--Yes, it was fun. Thankyou SO MUCH for allowing us to go along! It was so special!

Mrs. Wallace--Hello! Great to hear from y'all. We enjoyed looking at your blog and seeing what was going on with your family. :)

Sabrina, oops, I mean Amanda--Yup. We did have to show them off. ;) Sorry you got rained on. You will hear about Pete and Daddy's fun (And wet) retreat soon!
