Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

"WIR SIND GESEGNET"

"We are Blessed"

Here we are on a "Family Walk in the Woods"
AKA A tick gathering expedition :)
It WAS lovely!
Doesn't he look rugged and outdoorsey?
Is that a word? Cause the red line came up :)

Like Father
Like Son

Sweet Kitty insisted on carrying Paul in this makeshift carrier almost the entire hike.
We have a real carrier, but because we need it, it's in one of those 40 boxes yet to be unpacked

Markie looking lovely
and Rose - being 9 years old?

"Let us cross over the river and rest in the shade of the trees"

2 cuties in "the picnic spot"
Another day swimming at the creek

Paul's feet and my feet swam
"Generations"
Daddy and Joey
Isn't that sweet?

"Oh! Daddy! You're joking me!"

The Birthday party of the month
Rose, Rachel, and Joey conveniently arranged for their Birthdays to be within a month of each other. Wasn't that thoughtful? They really really wanted to have the party while Grandmama and Grandaddy were still here.

Meet Rosie's fish, Mr. Doomed to Die I guess every child desires to have the goldfish experience, and Grandmother graciously granted that wish for Rosie.

Rose WAS very diligent to change the water. Perhaps too diligent? Thankfully they are only 28 cents to replace

Matching projects! I wonder how Rachel's project is coming? Rose's yarn was lost within 2 days of the party, but she did find it. Haven't seen any neato latch hook projects materialize yet though.

Uncle Jay doing the Uncle thing with Joey!

Is there anything any sweeter than baby hands?
This comes pretty close. Pretty girl with pretty flower :)
We've been loving these irises. I think we counted 7 color variations
Sweet boy

The Pied Piper entices yet another generation of "tootlers"

Here he comes - full speed ahead!

"Ya wanna see somethin' neat?"

"Pretty suave eh?"

What sweet pictures! The tick-gathering expedition looks like so much fun! Yes, Eddie is indeed "outdoorsy" and rugged -- perfect for that property. And Peter is made from the same mold -- I imagine Paul will be right there, too, if Peter has anything to do with it!

Kitty looks like she was surely enjoying giving Paul his own conveyance! His eyes are so blue in the "Sweet boy" photo! Someday, he and Gracie can do tootle duets for Grandmother!

And Granddaddy with Joey is such a sweet picture, as is Uncle Jay with Joey, and all the other sweeties. Can you tell how much we miss everyone?

So sorry about Mr. Doomed-to-Die, but Rosie sure loved him for his short lifetime.

I am loving those aprons and want to order some! Details, please? I would order a pound cake and sourdough bread, too, but they would probably be half stale by the time they got here. I know how good they are, though!

My breath is taken away and my heart wells up every time I am reminded how fast Markie is changing from adorable little girl to lovely young woman! Somebody turn back the clock, please!

Well, obviously, I have loved this post. We miss you terribly.

Love,
Grandmother/
Mother/whatever your
relationship is to me!

Ditto to all Mama's comments!
The pic of you and Eddie is great! And Pete looks so handsome by the river.
Looks like they had a wonderful birthday party!
That is so funny about "Mr. Doomed to Die"! We have never had one - how did I manage that?
Rachel or Rose may just surprise you and DO their latch hook - I used to love those!
I just LOVE those sweet and chubby little hands of Paul's!!
Rosie looks so nice with the iris.
So proud of the nice aprons the girls made. Callie has so much fun being creative with aprons.

I sure miss all of them!!
The sourdough bread and pound cake look delectable!

Thanks for the update - we are truly blessed :)
Love you all!

Oh, too many good pictures to comment on!

Yes, Eddie definitely looks
"outdoors-y", as does Pete. Very nice!

Joey and Granddaddy walking together was precious!!

Poor Mr. Doomed To Die. Did they have an elaborate graveside service and burial, ala Poppy the Parakeet?

Yes, Rachel is probably two-thirds done with her latch hook. She really enjoys it!

Nothing is sweeter than baby hands, except baby cheeks and maybe baby breath.

Who gave Markie permission to grow up into such a beautiful young lady??

Love the aprons. Very cute!

Love the bread. Rachel told me all about the sourdough. I suspect she will be making it before long.

Love,
Katie

What beautiful looking sourdough bread and Sarah's poundcake looks marvelous, too. How did Grace get that fleur de lis on her bread?

Lizzie said...

Aunt Katie--No, Mr Doomed to die did not get an elaborate burial...He was unceremoniously used as fertilizer in the garden. He is nobly "Pushing up homegrown tomatoes" :)

Mrs Wallace- I think she cut a fleur de lis out of paper and put it on the bread as she floured the top. Thus having no flour on it, it stood out.
