Recently, we celebrated the Birthdays of our two April babies -- only they are not babies anymore. At 18, Sarah is truly a beautiful young lady and our little "Rosebud" is glad she is not the baby anymore! She was ASKING for big girl jobs yesterday during the monthly job rotation.
The babies "swam"
Sarah requested a pound cake for her birthday and Markie did a great job making it!
Rosie wanted an Oreo Ice Cream cake with Cool Whip frosting that she could help decorate with horses. We had fun with this!
Earlier in the week, as we did with Kitty on her 18th, the adults in the family dined out with Sarah Beth. It was a special time that we trust she will remember always. We try to make these landmark birthdays memorable and attach a significance to them that goes beyond a simple number. There is something to be said for marking spiritual and physical maturity. With the number of children in the extended family, it is sometimes challenging, but we trust as time goes by that these times will not only be recalled with fondness, but with a degree of accountability. It is our prayer that moments like these created "here a little and there a little" will be a lifelong inspiration.
Grandmother shares her heart with her grandaughter
Aunt Molly and Uncle Chris made this special purchase 2 years ago with this day in mind.
From Mama and Daddy and Uncle Hans: a watch and a very special ring, her Opa's (German for grandfather Discher) wedding ring.
Grandmother and Grandaddy gave Sarah a real gold coin and some cash for her dowry. Another heirloom gift was passed down, a beautiful necklace that belonged to her grandmother Frodge.
