Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

Reformation Day Celebration

Yes...you may call us Johnny-come-lately....But I'm determined to "catch up" the blog. ;) (I would have done a post last week, but we were virtually without internet all week, so a blog post was both impractical and impossible...Thus, I am finally posting on our Reformation Day celebration...3 weeks after we held it. :)

Faithful Christian, seek the truth, hear the truth, learn the truth, love the truth, speak the truth, adhere to the truth, defend the truth to death; for truth will make you free from sin, the devil, the death of the soul, and finally from eternal death.

John Huss

On Reformaton Day, October 30, a group of us met at Grandmama and Granddaddy's (They were in Missouri at the time (Thank you Grandmama and Granddaddy!!) ) vacant house for an evening honoring the Reformers! The activities of the evening were...

~~Watching Luther ~~

What an amazing man, so greatly used by God!
May we all be as Luther, and the other Reformers as we endeavor to reform our culture today!

"Unless I am convinced by proofs from Scriptures or by plain and clear reasons and arguments, I can and will not retract, for it is neither safe nor wise to do anything against conscience. Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. Amen."

-Martin Luther-

Men of God, and the Reformers of this generation

"Trust wholly in Christ; rely altogether on His sufferings; beware of seeking to be justified in any other way than by His righteousness. Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is sufficient for salvation. There must be atonement made for sin, according to the righteousness of God. The Person to make this statement must be God and man."

John Wycliffe

~~Ping Pong~~

If we could find in our hearts gladly for to hear, how unhurtful, yea, wholesome and vincible death is become through Christ, we would not be idle, and linger still till the time came that we must needs die.

Miles Coverdale

~~Dress-Up!!~~

Mr. Doolin came as a Cardinal selling indulgences.

We can always count of Mr. Doolin to come up with an amazing (And hilarious) costume! :)

I defy the Pope and all his laws. If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plough to know more of the Scripture, than he dost.

No man is excluded from calling upon God, the gate of salvation is set open unto all men: neither is there any other thing which keepeth us back from entering in, save only our own unbelief.

What an excellent post! The timely reminders of the great men of the past -- what a blessing to have this faithful heritage! And I am so glad we could (in absentia) offer hospitality for a wonderful fellowship time -- you know, this is exactly what the Luther home was like hundreds of years ago (except he was probably there instead of in Missouri!)

Love,
Grandmother

Reformation Day is so much more fun than that "other" yucky holiday celebrated on the
31st! It was a wonderful evening!

Thank you!

Wonderful pictures and fantastic, timely quotes!

I especially appreciated your end quote from Calvin; it shows who he truly was and the depth of his beliefs.
