Within the confines of this little cyber-world, you will encounter mind boggling facts (doubtful), side splitting humor (more doubtful), artifacts of great historical significance (we have a lot of old family photos to bore you with), and maybe you will even come across some genuine German/Canadian stuff

(Got your curiosity up, eh?!?)

Of the nine in this family, I am the Canadian. I am out numbered 9 to 1 by Americans. The odds are still in my favor. I am after all, "The Father." Join me on our wonderful journey.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

As a very special part of Peter's present from his Uncle Chris and Aunt Molly, he was treated to a trip to Bass Pro Shops - with spending money! What more could a 16 year old young man ask for?

A Happy Peter

So much to look at, so little time...

Can you see the longing in his eyes?

"That's more in my budget"
Looks like Uncle Chris has some ideas of his own!

Kitty went along with her birthday money! She loves Bass Pro about as much as Pete!

Here, she and Mary take a "pleasant ride" in the Jeep of Kitty's dreams

Granddaddy takes each of his grandsons on a canoe trip for their 16th birthday. It is a very special time. He stops to have devotions along the way. It's a manly way to celebrate!

Since Peter and his cousin Matthew turned 16 within 5 months of each other, they had a shared canoe trip.

Granddaddy flew Matthew and Daniel down from Arkansas - seeing them was the best part of the whole thing! Here they are with CJ.

Matthew, just relaxing in the water

Daniel

Rope swinging along the river was great fun! Here Pete is with his friend, Israel

This is how a group of boys has a lot of fun!

Just having fun!

The Dads had great fellowship, even if they DID get a little wet :)

Thanks, everyone, for making it a special day for Peter and Matthew!

Well we know who has bought a high tech fancy camera. The one with 950 pics per post. I fell asleep before I got to the end. For us low tech folks it takes forever to download a page from the dischers blog. It took my computer 3hrs and 45 mins before it finished downloading the page. I couldnt even scroll down while it was downloading, and my internet is faster than dial up. Any way Pete, you are growing up to be a fine young man. Cant wait until yall move up here. The boys went turkey huntn today. There are tons of turkey on our property. They started gobbling a couple of weeks ago. They should gobble til the end of the season which is 3 weeks from now. I got some advice on how not to get a goofy hair cut. Tell your sister. You can cut my hair when you let me cut yours. That will put a stop to that nonsense. Also when you do move up here. Dont tell anyone your family supported Ron Paul. You know how those Yankee communist missourians are. You might go to jail. If it gets to rough up there Yall can come below the mason dixon line to our place. Yall are always welcome. Stay in His word. Im proud of you.

ps did you get a receipt when you got your D. L. I heard wal-mart has a 30 day money back guarantee. No questions asked.

What a fitting tribute to a fine young man! It is wonderful to see the fruits of Godly instruction.
Peter, you have turned out to be a son that any father would be proud of. You have become an honorable young man of God and we are honored to know you. You have been an additional mentor to my son and for that I thank you. The God honoring example that you have demonstrated has helped my son to make good choices. Daniel looks up to you and with good reason.
We all hope and pray that you had a wonderful birthday and have a great year. We are also happy that you've obtained your drivers license... as we live out of state!!! Congratulations on turning sixteen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best son of the Discher household. You might have some competition when Duncan Discher arrives, but until then......enjoy. You are a fine, hard working, Godly young (cowboy) man that your family has good reason to be proud of.

What a special blessing to have your cousins flown down for the canoe trip. I'm sure that made your special day, extra special.

May the Lord continue to bless your life and may you always seek Him more and more each day until He calls you home.

The Pollock Family

P.S. Listen to the wise words of your father, eating that much will cath up with ya, eventually!!

I like the new header at the top of the blog. Wow, yall are an amazing family. Always on the look out for the next new pose for the camera, and can still get done all the things yall do. Thats amazing. Yall can make a pose look like yall are totally unaware of the camera. I like the one with the whole family. I can think of a couple of scenarios. Yall spend a lot of time out in the yard just happily staring at each other and yall were unaware of the dude with the camera.Or yall were gathered out side for a family portrate and that dude with the camera took the picture to soon. He/she should have said CHEESE and counted to three. Maybe then yall would have been looking at the camera.

I also looked at the pictures of pete again and Im reminded of a few things.

Monopoly Guru????? Looks like pete has 3 dollars and 2 pc of property one of which is mortgaged. While Grace looks on and is fixin to tell pete "no cheating!! you rolled a 4. Put that back the way it landed. I also noticed that Grace has more property and money. SO grace your the guru.

Pete aka Muscles??? his nick name should be sticks, but matthew already has that one. Maybe we should call him chop sticks.

Also pete was caught looking at the toy guns. He would have liked them. He just didnt want anybody to know he still likes playing cowboy and indians.

Pete, you can put your hands down, thats not really a dude with a gun. Thats a cardboard replica of roy rogers.

That picture with you posing like a mean cowboy with your gun. I wont tell any one thats a 22 and not an indian killer 30/30. Some advice next time put a tooth pick in your mouth. That will make you look meaner. Way to keep your cowboy heritage alive,
your granddaddy would be proud.

The most obvious thing to me in this whole post is not the things I joked about(what are uncles for). It is how much you have grown up. I cant believe it. When I talked to you on the phone yesterday you sounded so grown up. You are definatly learning from one of the best patriachs I know, Your Pa( do yall still call him Pa). I also like the fact that you take studying Gods word seriously. It will never return void.

Uncle catfish again.

Ps i noticed only 13 comment over the last 2 post. Maybe yall should come up with a contest.

Thank Ya'll for your comments. I'm thankful that I was raised in such a Godly family with such Godly examples. As uncle catfish put it "learning from one of the best patriachs I know" And Many others. There are so many things the Lord blessess me with that I take for granted, being raised in a Christian family at the top of the list. Thank ya'll again.

Peter

I'll just wrap all this into one comment.

uncle catfish. I actually had seven dollars and a get out of jail FREE card. If you add that up that's 57 dollars excluding the UNmortgaged property. But then I had to pay off baltic (the mortgaged property) which left me with essentially 7 dollars!
I've already been blessed with the name "long." There is no room for "chop sticks," Sorry.
I thought I asked you not to tell anyone that I still like playing cowboys and indians. O well, to late.
When I saw Roy Rogers Behind me I was Scared. First of all, That was the first time I was ever held at gunpoint, And second, He died In 1998. I'm sure glad you told me He was just cardboard though.
I'll take your advice next time and put a toothpick in my mouth.

What a great post! We agree with everything said about Pete! He is a very special young man that the Lord will use greatly for His glory.

Enjoyed all the pictures! CJ really enjoyed that canoe trip!

Love,
Molly and Chris

Ok, Robert, you had me laughing pretty hard at the "chop sticks" comment and all the others. You are cruel and hilarious at the same time. Please don't exercise those same talents while visiting our blog. I shutter to think of your comments there.
